汽水域に生息するので「ボライワシ」や「イソイワシ」とも呼ばれる。

The color of the backside of the body is greenish brown, and the abdomen is silver-white on blue with the luster.

The shape of the body is cylinder of long and slim,

But has an image of square-built.

Because this fish live in the sea mingled with fresh water area,

This fish is called “Bora-iwasi; Mullet sardine” or “Iso-iwasi; Beach ground sardine” as well.
