幼体です。

小さいとなかなか同定が困難でもある。

体色は背部は黒褐色、腹部は白色をしている。

近似種との区別は尾が長めで、口の中が黒く白斑が見られないこと。

歯は鋭利な為に、逆に嚙まれないように注意が必要。

市場では「本アンコウ」とも呼ばれ、愛されている。
