体色は、全体的に黄緑褐色をしている。

体表に、青い筋模様と褐色斑が見られグロテスク。

体形は、左右に著しく側扁し、細長い。

吻が前方にやや突き出て、尾鰭がとても大きいことも特徴です。

内臓に猛毒があるとされるので食べれません。注意が必要。
